PARC hosts 2013 All Hands and Light Harvesting Satellite Meetings

From August 7 - 11, 2013 PARC and Washington University played host to over 250 scientists for the 2013 PARC All Hands and Light Harvesting Satellite Meetings. An additional 200 scientists attended the 11th Workshop on Cyanobacteria Research, hosted by I-CARES, on campus.

The one-day All Hands Meeting on August 7 featured a number of talks by PARC graduate students and postdocs, providing updates on research progress, collaborations, and results. The Elevator Pitch Contest for students and postdocs returned this year, with Cogdell graduate student Kirsty Hacking taking first prize and Blankenship graduate student Erica Wunderlich Majumder earning second place.  A poster session and group dinner were also included.

The evening of August 8 kicked off three and half days of talks and posters during the Light Harvesting Satellite Meeting to the 16th International Congress on Photosynthesis Research. A highlight of the conference was a four-speaker joint scientific session held together with the registrants of the Cyanobacteria Workshop. On the afternoon of August 11, many attendees transferred downtown to the Hyatt Regency at the Arch for the five-day main congress.
