Research Assistant

Maya is a freshman John B. Ervin Scholar pursuing a degree in Psychological and Brain Sciences with a concentration in neuroscience. She also has intent to receive a minor in African and African American Studies.  She is a strong advocate for mental health and runs and maintains her own website titled Black Girl Blues//Black Girl Mental Health. She was able to facilitate a discussion as one of the only undergraduates involved in the Young, Gifted, and @Risk Conference held at the Brown School this year. She is very interested in abnormal psychology research due to the fact that she has an unwavering dedication to learn more about anxiety, depression, and their root causes. She wants to be able to examine the brain or conduct experiments that provide us with more answers about these two illnesses. In her free time, she loves to express herself through artistic paintings, listen to music of various styles, and spend time with her loved ones.
