Amit received his B.S from Burdwan University (West Bengal, India) and M.S. from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (West Bengal, India) in Chemistry. He received his Ph.D degree in 2014 from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India on his thesis entitled “Study of Complex Assemblies by Ultrafast Spectroscopy and Microscopy”.

Research Interests

 

 

Dr. Mandal's research is primarily based on photophysical characterization of synthetic chromophores (porphyrins, chlorins, bacteriochlorins) using steady-state and time-resolved optical spectroscopy, including measurements of absorption and fluorescence spectra. His main aim is to investigate the relationships between molecular compositions, electronic structure and photophysical properties of these chromophores. He is also interested in energy transfer in bio-hybrid light-harvesting complexes for enhanced solar energy capture and high energy transfer efficiencies.
