Originally from Manchester, in the UK, Dr. Mabbs obtained his BSc (1990) and PhD Degrees (1995) from the University of Nottingham (Department of Chemistry). His graduate supervisor was Mark Brouard. He subsequently lectured in Physical Chemistry at the University of Botswana (1998 - 2002) before pursuing post-doctoral studies at the University of Arizona in the group of Andrei Sanov (2002 - 2005). He has been an Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at Washington University in St. Louis since 2005.
