Kaitlyn Faries

Chemistry
Entering Year: 2013

Kaitlyn received her BS in biology and BA in chemistry (summa cum laude) from the University of Missouri in 2008. Kaitlyn joined Prof. Dewey Holten's lab in 2010 as a research technician and in 2013 received a National Science Foundation graduate research fellowship to continue in the Holten lab as a chemistry graduate student. Kaitlyn's research is centered on understanding the fundamental processes of photosynthesis, specifically those that govern light-harvesting and electron transfer in purple bacteria. It is her goal to apply that knowledge in developing artificial solar cells. In her spare time, Kaitlyn enjoys outdoor activities like bird-watching, hiking and gardening.
