Nara Higano is a PhD student in the physics department. She grew up in Rochester, Minnesota, and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2012 with a BA in physics and a minor in classics. Her current research involves collaboration with Cincinnati Children's Hospital to investigate the microstructure and function of neonatal and pediatric lungs using both ultra-fast proton MRI and diffusion MRI of hyperpolarized helium-3 and xenon-129. On the side, Nara enjoys participating in ice hockey and soccer, exploring new cuisines, and being outside as much as possible.
