Senegalese went to the poll in Senegal and around the world to vote in the 2012 controversial Presidential elections on February 26, 2012.  Though Abdoulaye did not lose his bid for a third time, failure to receive 50% of the vote means that a run-off election will take place on Sunday, March 18, 2012.  Despite earlier campaign unrest, elections went off smoothly and peacefully.  See these articles:
