Fenneke Wekker

Fenneke Wekker works as a lecturer and PhD-candidate at the Sociology department of the University of Amsterdam. Her ethnographic research focuses on mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion, and feelings of home in urban settings. Among other publications, she co-edited special issue ‘Homing the Dutch’ for the journal Home Cultures. Furthermore, she published articles on feelings of home in Dutch cauliflower-neighborhoods. Recently, her first book called ‘Top Down Community Building and the Politics of Inclusion’, was published by Palgrave McMillan. Besides doing research, Fenneke was trained as an actrice and she worked as a playwright for more than 15 years.
