Jana completed her PhD work in the summer of 2016, under the direction of Prof. Paul R. Hanson, at the University of Kansas, where her research focused on the synthesis P-stereogenic, phosphorus heterocycles and their use as temporary tether strategies for the total synthesis of polyol-containing natural products. She joined the Wencewicz lab in the fall of 2016, and she is currently working on the synthesis of small molecule probes of tetracycline-inactivating enzymes and the development of methods toward the synthesis of strained, 4-membered ring-containing antimicrobial targets. Jana's favorite antibiotic is doxycycline (DOX), and her favorite baseball team will always be the Kansas City Royals.
