    Dr. Weil leads a group conducts population-based epidemiology studies and clinical trials in Africa and Asia, the Death to Onchocerciassis and Lymphatic Filariasis (DOLF) Project. They also develop and evaluate diagnostic tests for helminth parasite infections (lymphatic filariasis, river blindness and intestinal worm infections) that are major public health problems in the developing world.

    In August 2015, Dr. Weil received $7 million in support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to continue his work, funding 12 field projects in eight countries in Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
