Elisa Murray is a candidate for the Ph.D. in biochemistry at Washington University in St. Louis. Her research focuses on identifying the mechanisms by which various genetic alterations contribute to the development of colorectal cancer. Elisa is a fellow in the Chancellor's Graduate Fellowship Program (CGFP) and she is an associate scholar in the Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) program. As well, she received a Bachelor of Science in chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry from Lindenwood University, where she was a recipient of the American Chemical Society Outstanding Junior Chemistry Student award. Elisa cherishes sharing her experiences as a graduate student with younger generations and she aims to encourage younger students to pursue careers in science-based fields. She has been a volunteer with the College Bound program, a program that provides academic enrichment and resources to high school students preparing for college. Ultimately, Elisa aspires to work at the intersection of outreach and science, with a passion for enhancing underrepresented students in science-related careers.
