Western Illinois University Residency

I traveled to Macomb Illinois Sept 20, 2014 for 6 days to create a new dance, and to teach 10 master classes for students of the Western Illinois performing arts department. The focus of this residency was improvisation, or as I prefer to call it, "spontaneous composition."

I will be sharing processes for both developing technical skills and also creating artwork with improvised methods. I find that this work is particularly empowering to students because they must take ownership of the artwork, and as a collective learn to communicate with one another through movement.  This is a bonding experience, and also a quick education in composition.
