Yvonne Osei is a German-born Ghanaian artist with sensitivity for the human condition. She has earned undergraduate degrees in International Studies and Graphic Design at Webster University, St. Louis, an academic environment that she says, has inspired her to develop a socio-political consciousness. In addition to being an Olin Fellow, Osei is a Chancellor’s Fellow, a Danforth Scholar and the incoming Vice President for the Graduate Art Organization. Her creative practice addresses color and complexion politics, socio-political injustices, and the complexities associated with globalization and colonialism in post-colonial Sub-Saharan cultures.
