Project Backpack

The Chancellor's Fellows participated in a spring community service project in March. They devoted a Saturday morning to work with Project Backpack St. Louis.  They filled backpacks with age and gender appropriate necessities for children who have been removed from their homes often with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Research Presentation by Chancellor's Fellow Alumna Dr. Karmella Haynes Ferrell

Umrath Lounge

Alumna Karmella Haynes Ferrell presented her research and spoke with Fellows about pursuing a teaching and research career. 

Karmella Haynes earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics.  Her postdoctoral training focused on designing bacterial DNA for mathematical applications (Davidson College) and engineering synthetic proteins to control human cell fates (Harvard Medical School).

Joint CGFP/Olin Arts and Letters Colloquium; Friday, April 8th

Chancellor's and Olin Fellows from the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts and the Creative Writing Program presented their work to a captive audience. The presentations featured great examples of the collegiality of the programs and  the intellectual and artistic directions of the Chancellor's and Olin Fellows. Networking opportunites followed after the presentations.

Chancellor's Fellow Alumnus Bertin Louis, Jr. Visits Campus

The African American Studies Program welcomed Chancellor's Graduate Fellow Alumnus Bertin Louis, Jr. as their first guest lecturer of the 2015 Fall semester.   Dr. Louis is Vice Chair of Africana studies and Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Africana Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  Dr. Louis studies the growth of Protestant forms of Christianity among Haitians transnationally.  His talk took place on October 8, 2015.
